“Vitamin C Helps Reduce Asthma After Exercise”

In 20 individuals between 7 and 28 years of age who had exercise-induced asthma, half took 2,000 mg of vitamin C per day while the other half took a placebo. Nine of the individuals taking vitamin C were able to exercise without suffering symptoms of exercise-induced asthma such as coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath, and it lessened the severity of the condition in other. Vitamin C could be important in protecting against endogenous and exogenous oxidants. Vitamin C is an attractive agent because it has no known side effects.
